Section J & JV3 assessments
NCC Section J energy efficiency for commercial, multi-residential common areas and other Class 2–9 buildings — Deemed-to-Satisfy or JV3 verification modelling.
What we deliver
Compliance for your building surveyor
Section J of the National Construction Code sets energy efficiency requirements for Class 2–9 buildings. We assess your design against the right pathway and document it for your building surveyor.
- Deemed-to-Satisfy (DTS) Section J assessment — fabric, glazing and services
- JV3 verification modelling where the DTS path is too restrictive
- Clear notes where glazing, insulation or services need adjusting
- Coordinated with BESS/SDA where planning ESD is also required
FAQ
Common questions
What’s the difference between DTS and JV3?
The DTS path checks each element against prescribed requirements. JV3 compares the energy use of your design with a reference building, which gives more flexibility — for example with larger glazing areas.
Do apartments need Section J?
Sole-occupancy units in Class 2 buildings use NatHERS, while common areas and services fall under Section J. We can do both.
